Do you dream of yelling “Mush!” to your team of huskies in the blinding snow while on the trail of the Iditarod? Live out a (scaled-down) version of your dream by dog sledding at Snow Mountain Ranch this winter!
When: Thursday mornings and Saturday mornings. The presentation begins at 8:30 am and rides begin around 9:00 am. During rides, a craft, movie, outdoor fire, and hot cocoa are available. The presentation is open to everyone.
For members and guests: $25 for a single rider or $40 for double riders (must be from the same group or family, combined weight cannot exceed 250 lbs)
For non-members and non-guests: $65 for a single rider or $120 for double riders (must be from the same group or family, combined weight cannot exceed 250 lbs), which includes a day pass and cost of the ride.
Guests who are staying at Snow Mountain Ranch get first priority for our dog sledding program. To make a reservation, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with the dates you will be at Snow Mountain Ranch. If there are rides available during your stay, a staff member will contact you for your name, reservation confirmation number or member number, the names of everyone in your party wishing to ride, the age of riders, and approximate weight of each rider. The program staff member will take your payment and instruct you on filling out the waiver form.
If you are on the waiting list, we cannot guarantee a ride on the given day. There are many factors that influence whether we are able to accommodate those on the waiting list, including trail conditions and the health of the dogs. If you are on the waiting list, you will pay only if you get a ride.
If you do not have a lodging reservation at Snow Mountain Ranch, send an email to email@example.com 7 days before the date you wish to sign up for a ride. Indicate that you are not a guest but would like to sign up. Our program staff will let you know if any spots are available.
For the health and safety of our dogs, there is a weight limit of 250 lbs. Children 5 and younger must ride with an adult.
The ride is roughly 2 miles long, starting from the Library. Our guide, Steve Peterson, will offer a 45 minute presentation on dog sledding before he begins rides.
Steve’s team consists of twelve Alaskan Huskies. Questions? Please call the Snow Mountain Ranch Program Department at 970-887-2152, ext. 4135 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
