Long Dog Sled Ride
Having trouble getting on the reservation list for the Short Ride because it is full? Have you already done a short ride and want a longer experience? Here is a great alternative! The Long Rides will be offered on Friday Mornings. The rides will be 50 minutes long and we will be able to take one adult and one child. Children would be a minimum of 5 years old and maximum of 10 years old. 11 years old and up would be considered an adult.
Cost of long dog sledding experience: $150 per sled (one adult or one adult and one child, as long as the combined weight does not exceed 250 pounds). This experience is available only to guests staying on-property. Advanced reservations are required for the long rides.
Guests must be staying at Snow Mountain Ranch to do this program. To register, click here.
If you are on the waiting list, we cannot guarantee a ride on the given day. There are many factors that influence whether we are able to accommodate those on the waiting list, including trail conditions and the health of the dogs. If you are on the waiting list, you will pay only if you get a ride.
Full Immersion Dog Sled Experience
It’s one thing to go dog sledding, it’s another to have the full experience. Racing through the trees in the wide-open mountain landscape is only part of what dog sledding is all about. With the Full Immersion experience, you’ll get to learn the process from start to finish. Once you arrive, you’ll unbox the dogs, put them on the picket line, learn how to treat their paws, feed and harness them, then put them on the line. From there, you’ll get the unique experience of mushing the dogs while accompanied by one of our trained mushers who will provide ongoing coaching, to see how powerful they truly are. After the exhilaration of your ride, you’ll come back, take the dogs off the line, and learn how to care for them after your big adventure. It’s not just a ride, it’s an experience.
Cost of Ride:
$300 per person.
Advanced reservations are required for this experience. You can pre-register here.
The Full Immersion experience will only be offered six times throughout the dog sled season. The guest’s safety and the safety of our dogs is always a first priority.
Group Dog Sledding Experience

Your time slot can be booked according to your group’s schedule. To book your package, call the Program Department atext. 4130.

Power Our Team
Since Snow Mountain Ranch began our dog sledding program in 2013, the response from our guests has been overwhelming. This unique program has allowed us to share our five core values (Caring, Responsibility, Respect, Honesty, and Faith) with over 2,000 people each year.
The entire experience has become one of the most popular programs offered at Snow Mountain Ranch. Dog sledding has also become an effective means for teaching leadership and outdoor education to Colorado schoolchildren.
We are committed to continuing and improving our unique program while keeping it affordable to all patrons.
We currently have 20 hard-working sled dogs who allow us to run the program. With food, routine veterinary care, housing, and transportation, each the dog costs approximately $3,000 every year. This amount does not include material costs, craft supplies, equipment repair and replacement and trail grooming that is essential for the success of this program.
Each dog has a unique personality, and we’ve discovered that our guests develop personal connections with this special group of dogs. We would like to give everyone a chance to personally help support one or more of our sled dogs.
It takes the whole team working together to pull the sled, and it takes your support to help us to develop this powerful, mission-driven program.
