Call the Nordic Center at (970) 887-2152 (extension 4173) to sign-up for a spot on one of our Break the Ice Weekend guided Nordic ski or snowshoe adventures in the Colorado Rockies.
Nordic ski and snowshoe destinations are as follows:
The Rowley Homestead: Short, flat and easiest. Approximate distance both ways is around .75 miles and will last 1.25 hrs. Starts at 10:30am at Stillwater Picnic Shelter.
The Gold Mine: Also an easy adventure! Approximate distance both ways is 1.4 miles and will last 1.75 hrs. Starts at 10:00am at Stillwater Picnic Shelter.
The Nordic Yurt: This adventure gets to be a moderate effort because of the length and slight upgrade on the way. Approximate distance both ways is 3.6 miles and will last 2.25 hrs. Starts at 9:30am at Stillwater Picnic Shelter.
The Waterfall: If you are fit and a big adventurer this is the destination! This will require moderate to strenuous effort because of the distance and upgrade for the hike out. Approximate distance both ways is 5.0 miles and will last 3 hrs. Starts at 9am at Stillwater Picnic Shelter.
Stillwater Picnic Shelter can be accessed by taking Nine Mile Road. Drive pass the Programs building and yurts and turn left onto Stillwater Road. Parking is available on both sides of the road by the Stillwater Picnic Shelter.
All participants need a trail pass (which can be obtained at the Nordic Center as well as rental skis, boots and poles if needed).
